A long row of 19 bubbling pots of creative chili awaited OIT staff.
On a beautiful October day, various staff around OIT gathered in the 1762 parking lot to partake in the Annual OIT Chili Cookoff/Dessert bakeoff. Sponsored by IT F&A and organized by Christina Mazzella (IT F&A), the event featured 19 chili entries and 9 desserts.
In the Chili competition, Dawn Weaver (Enterprise Services) took first place with her interesting blend of beef and sausage. Venise Lee (Enterprise Services) came in second while Danny Bridges (Integration) took third.
In the Dessert category, Lindsay Paroczai (R&HS) won the grand prize with her peanut butter/fudge brownie cake. Second went to Celeste Hermida (IT F&A) and third place was captured by Elizabeth Bell (Integration).
Thanks to everyone who helped organize this year's event: Linda Richardson (IT F&A), Sebreana Echols (IT F&A), Kim Comstock (IT F&A) and all of the great participants.

Cancer touches our lives in one way or another. Either through family, friends, or even you may have been diagnosed with some form of cancer. The Winship Cancer Institute hosted a 5k "Win the Fight" run/walk on Saturday, October 15th. The cost was $25 per person and the run/walk was USATF-certified, making it a Peachtree Road Race qualifier.
Race organizers only anticipated 800 participants and actually had 1600! Please prepare for next year's race, which will be Octber 3, 2012... put it on your calendar now! I want to thank everyone that signed up to be a part of the OIT team. WE reached our fundraising goal! Congratulations.
We had 17 people running/walking to help support Win the Fight against Cancer. Our goal was $1,350 and we raised $1,366. Everyone looked great in their OIT t-shirts.
